This tale takes place long ago when there was universal
understanding among all the peoples of all nations.
Kavar was a poor girl during these times. Brother, Kavin, was
a kind child whose most notable quality was his hopefulness.
Because this duo played so well together, they were allowed much
freedom. It was considered OK for them to be off on their own for
hours as they had no toys, only their imaginations for
entertainment. One fall, in late September, they left for an early
morning outing together. What should've been an ordinary trip
became an adventure when brother slipped off the trail and fell
down the hillside. Sister looked around and she immediately sees
that she needs help to rescue her brother.
Unu, their grandmother, the unchangeable one, senses that
something is wrong with the children. Not due to be home yet, she
still knows that they need help. She takes Duke, their trusty dog
and heads out on horseback the way she believes they went. Soon she
finds Kavar running towards her. Reaching the side of Nully,
grandmother's horse, she explains how her brother has slipped down
the hillside. "He said it would be OK if I left him, but I should
not have left him alone. You probably think I am very naughty for
leaving my brother!" "No, I just want him to be OK" Grandmother
answered.
Grandmother and Kavar round the bend and find Kavin standing on
the trail. He is smiling and holding onto a pouch overflowing with
coins. "I was so worried about you" exclaimed Kavar. Grandmother
smiled and said "I should have known that things would turn out
well for 'he who is hoping'".
