You can do this on a bike,
You can not in a car,
You can do it walking,
Because it's not too far.
Take the turn to the Perce White Reserve, as the car park is hidden from view. Although the Reserve looks like it is four meter wide with a road running through the center. it actually gets larger further in.
Start walking (or riding) along the path towards the first name of a famous Australian author (he wrote Voss and The Eye Of The Storm amongst other things).
1. At the T-intersection:
(Note: You may have to go a bit closer to the fence as the bushes have grown a bit!)
Take the first name of the famous author and add the letters using A=1, B=2, and so on until 13 and then repeat, N=1, O=2, etc. For example if the name was Muzza (another famous author (of geocaches)), it would be: M=13, U=8, Z=13, Z=13, A=1 total(ab)=48.
If the total (ab) is greater than 40, turn right (but not too quickly).
If it is less than 40, go left.
2. No cars past here:
S 37 50.547 E 144 54.799
The cardinal direction on the sign, convert it to a number as above (cd)
3. The first Pier:
S 37 50.663 E 144 54.897
Number of Pylons on the front of the pier (e), turn around and on the Mobile phone tower, how many spotlights are at the top? (f)
Look back along Sandridge Beach, it is a good swimming beach that is patrolled on the weekends. It also has BBQ's and picnic facilities for your lunch.
4. The High Ground:
S 37 50.842 E 144 55.011
Right on the corner, up on the fence there is a sign, what is the date of the Maritime Transport Security Act? (ghij)
Most of Melbourne's power supply goes here, so don't touch the fence!
From here there is a great view of the old Garden City, the new Port Melbourne, The Spirit, Harper's Chimney (GCMG44), and if you look very closely you might even see Partic (if he is at home).
5. The Pit of Dispair:
S 37 50.882 E 144 54.946
How many bolts are there on the top of pit where the stormwater is carefully treated before going into the bay? (k)
From here there is a good view of the Williamstown Yacht Clubs, Ship Building, and you can just see the Timeball Tower.
6. Cuisanaire Rods:
S 37 50.927 E 144 54.840
There are big concrete poles here that remind me of Cuisanaire Rods that used to be used for teaching children to count (yea, yea, old fart). I never did much counting with them but, used to spend a lot of time constructing and destroying Rod towers. How many are here? (l)
Bugger, a fence. Oh well, time to stop, take a seat, and do a few calculations to work out where the cache is stached.
m = j + k + h + c
n = d - e
