Geocache Description:

One of a series of 10 caches based on wildlife.

The Goldcrest is one of the smallest birds in Europe - at only 3 1/2 inches in length.

I am small

It spends much of it's time searching for food in the tops of coniferous trees. In saying that Goldcrests can be found in most areas of the forest, fliting from branch to branch- sometimes hanging upside down- in search of spiders, insects and their larvae.

Goldcrests can be quite trusting. If you're quiet and patient enough around the cache site - you have a fair chance of seeing one. This part of the forest is visited infrequently, in comparision with others. When we hid the cache, we saw a herd of 30+ Fallow Deer and two Muntjac.

The cache is hidden close to one of the informal paths that cris-cross The Warren - part of the Copped Hall Estate.

Suggested parking is in Crown Hill at N51° 41.071', E000° 04.070'

AS WITH ALL THE OTHER CACHES IN THIS SERIES, YOU DO NOT NEED TO TRAMPLE ANY VEGETATION OR DISTURB ANY WILDLIFE TO FIND IT.

Please make sure the lid is on correctly and bring your own pen.
