This cache is located on the shoulder of Virgil Mountain outside of Virgil, NY.
I debated about how to rate this one. If you go in winter, there is easy access, but the cache might be harder to find because of snow coverage. In summer the access is harder, but it will be easier to see the cache in the woods. I did hide it with winter caching in mind, so it is not covered up or deeply hidden. Please keep it sort of uncovered as you found it so that those that hunt it in the winter have a good shot at finding it. It is a large ammo can. If you hike just to the north of the cache you'll come to a large opening and a pretty good view.
This cache is just off the Finger Lakes trail and can be accessed from that trail by parking where it crosses Valentine Hill Road. Alternately, you could park on Tone Road, to the north of the cache and hike the Finger Lakes Trail in the opposite direction. The third, most fun and easiest access is to park at N 42 30.543 W 076 08.738 on Route 392 and take the very wide trails up to the cache. This is the best winter access to this section of the Finger Lakes Trail.
