Jane Geocacher was invited to a potluck and she decided to bring
two items - a fruit salad and a tossed vegetable salad. So, armed
with her shopping list, she headed out to her local grocery store.
This is her list:
- Bananas (6)
- Boston Lettuce (15)
- Bunch of Carrots (17)
- Cameo Apples (14)
- Cantaloupe (9)
- Cherry Tomatoes (26)
- Mangos (Red) (10)
- Pineapple (Large) (13)
- Radicchio (22)
- Red Bell Pepper (26)
- Red Grapes (9)
- Red Leaf Lettuce (16)
- Watercress (18)
- Watermelon (Seedless) (9)
Back home, as she added her fruits & veggies up into their
respective salads, she realized that with only a little adjustment
she had the coordinates for the potluck she had been invited to. So
she SUBTRACTED 28 from the tossed vegetable salad getting
the number ABCDE (checksum = 13) and SUBTRACTED 45 from the
fruit salad getting the number FGHIJ (checksum = 25). Thus, she
ended up with N 38° AB.CDE, W 090° FG.HIJ.
From where I parked you will have a .31-or so-mile hike
to the general area of the cache. Half of the hike will be paved
though it will be steep & twisty at times. After the paving
runs out, the path becomes packed dirt that at times - especially
after rain - will be quite muddy. There will be a 150 foot or so
bushwhack to reach the final. How difficult this will be depends on
how you approach it. There is closer parking that could cut the
walk in half if you can find it.
