Sallies: The ammo box has indeed been stolen! Sorry to have to archive this nice cache. Perhaps someone else will place one in the same area. 🤓 Rodney & Iris..

The cache is found on the Crater Rim Walkway. If you park at S 43° 35.869 E 172° 39.727 you will only have an easy uphill walk of about 150 metres.
The cache is a camouflaged ammo box - courtesy of Bear_Left. It is well hidden and is invisible to the casual passer-by. It is in a clump of large rocks about 20 metres uphill from the track, in a pine plantation and there is a large fallen pine branch that points straight at the hiding place.
Although some GPS receivers will lose their satellite coverage shortly after entering the track, there are small areas before and after the cache, where, with a little patience, coverage will return for long enough to point you in the correct direction.
When hidden the cache contained:
Logbook, pencil & geocaching notice.
Camo pouch, emergency rain pouches, Lake Ianthe coaster, tennis ball.
Bear, Bear, White sheep - the Bear_Left's first Travel Bug
