Geocache Description:

This is the end of the road for most people. Difficult stream crossings and rapidly encroaching brush will make road travel difficult for all but the adventurous hikers. You are looking for a 6x6 inch Lok-n-Lok at 2092 ft. elevation. See Silver Creek #1 for directions. Enjoy the views.

This is my #8 in the geocaching-mining series to discover some of the hidden history that is so close around us. After finding Silver Creek #1 and #2, you will continue on the road/trail with several creek crossings on bridges and washouts. On your right at 2 miles is a bus!....This is private land, so please respect the property. Further along you'll pass a cabin on your left. At 3 miles and near the cache location you will come to the long gone Mineral City. You would never know that thousands lived here 100 years ago. Not much is left other than a few remnants of pipe and logs. When I placed the cache there was 20 inches of new snow on the ground, so I didn't go much farther than here. I've read that you can continue another mile or so and then the road gets difficult and brushy. If you are an experienced hiker you can continue to Poodle Dog Pass and Silver Lake and then down to Monte Cristo if a one way ride can be had. This is wild dangerous country, so please be prepared and don't go in any of the mines if you aren't experienced.
