Geocache Description:

One of the most famous chapels in Wales stands above the River Artro inland from Llanbedr. It was built in 1850 and worshippers were baptised in the river. In 1908, the artist Curnow Vosper painted a picture of the congregation in the chapel, and prints of it were used to sell Sunlight soap. It is said that the face of the devil can be seen in the folds of the main character`s shawl And a face of a young girl is in the window behind. After being exhibited at the Royal Academy, the painting was bought by Lord Leverhulme for 100 guineas. A copy is in the chapel.
