This castle site has been moved to a new location, further from the motte, which is still visible (just!). It is now a little harder to get to, since you have to walk up a path and cross over a stile.
This motte (an earthen base for a castle) is at N 53 14.039 W 004 00.862, but the cache is at the coordinates above.
You can see the motte behind the houses at the bottom of the village, and there is an entry which leads to Mrs Roberts' private land where the motte sits. If you ask Mrs Roberts she may let you go onto the mound, as long as you close the old iron gate carefully.
The orgin of the castle is unknown. It may have been built by the Normans to guard the crossing over to Anglesey. There are also stories that it has links with Llywelyn ap Iorweth, one of the last Welsh Chieftains, who is thought to have held his court or "llys" near here
The motte is 6 metres high and 40 metres across the base and has a very flat top.
The place where the cache is hidden is reached from a footpath starting at N 53 14.005 W 004 00.886
