You'll find this cache located in the cemetery located just past Jamesville Penitentiary.
The original penitentiary building opened on October 1, 1901, and was constructed at a cost of $211,000 on farmland purchased from the Puffet family. The facility was used from that date until 1983 when it became inadequate to meet the growing needs of the county. The building was demolished in 1999, having been replaced by a new $9.8 million correctional facility boasting 192 rooms.
For obvious reasons we could not place the cache on the premises of the penitentiary, so we chose the cemetery land since it offers a fine view of the penitentiary grounds without the danger of trespassing and becoming an inmate.
The cache is a medium-size container originally well-stocked with assorted pin-on slogan buttons.
