Park in Sparkill around the town square and you can access both JB Clarke#1 and JB Clarke #2 caches.
The Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail is a project of Orangetown Dept. of Parks and Recreation and was acquired in 1997. The southern part of the trail begins on the North side of Oak Tree Road, approximately 1/4 mile east of the intersection with NYS Route 303. The trail proceeds north, under the Palisades Interstate Parkway, and into the hamlet of Sparkill. The trail becomes part of Sparkill Park, which also provides a good location for parking during trail usage. Just north of the park, the trail splits. The eastern trail meets an existing rail-trail which then turns north and travels through the villages of Piermont (creekside cache), Grandview and South Nyack before ending in Nyack (This spur also provides a connector to the Long Path). The western trail is the continuation of the Clarke Trail, which heads northwest, eventually crossing over Route 303 via the new pedestrian bridge to the Lowe's parking lot. This ends the maintained part of the trail. The trail continues North, but is overgrown and needs maintenance. Another spur exists in Blauvelt behind the library. There is an “Adopt-a Trail” Program. The cache is a 2 stage multi-cache with the first stage being a micro containing coordinates for the second stage which is a clear lock-n-lock container. The Clarke Rail Trail only owns 20 feet either side of the trail, so long bushwacking will not be required. Please respect all private residences along this trail. The Orangetown Parks Dept. requests that you comply with Town of Orangetown Law 7A, CONDUCT -- PUBLIC AREAS found at their website.
