Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Smith Park which is near Hook Field, our local airport. The cache is placed on the old Miami Erie Canal towpath, near the canal mueseum. The cache is a rubbermaid container with cammo tape. The park closes at dusk. During soccer and baseball seasons the park is very busy. Be aware of the muggles on the walking trail.

Welcome to the Middletown History Tour (MHT) series of caches. This series of caches is designed to show you some interesting and historical places in Middletown Ohio. Middletown’s development was, in large part, attributed to the Miami-Erie canal. Early industry in Middletown included paper mills, steel mills and the tobacco industry. The prosperity of these early pioneers resulted in some beautiful homes in Middletown’s Historical District on South Main Street. Part of this tour will take you into this area. Enjoy the tour!
