Geocache Description:

The Cap Sauer series is a set of four hides taking you on one of my favorite hikes in these forest preserves. Locals refer to this hike as the "esker trail". Portions of this hike are along the crest of an esker (a river bed remaining after the melt back of the glacier). This area was covered by several thousand feet of ice until about 15,000 years ago. While this series is best enjoyed and caches located by going in order, each cache stands alone, not dependent on any other and each can be found as a single endeavor. When attempting any of these I strongly advise long sleeves, long pants and waterproof boots even in dry weather. This series is not a "drive up,hop out and claim a cache and drive off" type of series. This entire series is between 3 and 4 miles long and is meant to take you into and through some of the most attractive natural topography in these woods. Park in the lot called Teasons Woods at N41 41.046 and W 087 52.447. The trail entrance is across 104th Ave. Watch out for traffic! The footpath leading to the esker will be the first footpath on your right with an orange trail marker next to it. You are looking for a small/medium size peanut tin hidden in the usual manner and not far from the footpath. Hidden within these caches you will find a clock radio, clock, beer taps, golf balls, cd's and other stuff. The term "trail" as used here refers to the very wide maintained horse trails. A "footpath" is the secondary route requiring single file walking.
