South Para Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

tiddalik: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache [red]within the next couple of months[/red], just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Completed in 1958 by the then Engineering and Water Supply Department, the South Para Reservoir is SAs 2nd largest behind Mt Bold. Great views and you can now fish here but the picnic areas have been let go. South Para is open to the public between 7am and 5pm daily.

The coordinates shown will bring you to a plaque with the Metric statistics of the reservoir; add all these numbers to get MM. Next use the Imperial statistics plaque (now missing , so photo provided) and add its numbers to get II.

Calculate the difference: D = II - MM and so the next cache is at: S 34 41.(D/297) and E 138 51.(D/320), ignore any decimal places for these final calculations. Retrieving and replacing this micro cache may require a stick and some stealth as you are out in the open.

The South Para does not fill often, but in 2004 & 2005 it did and overflowed down that massive spillway and washed out the ford by the "Parrots in Paradise" cache.
