This cache involves a hike across some of the most beautiful and
dramatic, yet hilly, scenery you will find in Cornwall. It is only
prudent to advise that you go prepared as the weather can change
very rapidly and the terrain is very rough and rugged in
places.
The Kilmar Railway was established in 1858 as an extension to the
Liskeard and Caradon railway. It was built by the Cheeswring
Granite Company.
It ran from what is now the village of Minions and ended at 2
branches near Bearah and Kilmar Tor deep in the midst of Bodmin
Moor.
There is a small amount of parking at the end of the road at
Sharptor and is an ideal location to complete the five caches that
make up the Kilmar Railway series.
Bearah Tor has (a still working) granite quarry, the railway line
ran around Sharptor and branched off to both Bearah and Kilmar Tors
to move the granite quarried there.
The cache is a small one and contains the usual Logbook, pen and
pencil and a pencil sharpener. There are a couple of small items to
swap if you wish.
The cache has moved from it's original location.
