Geocache Description:

Parking Coordinates: N 34 46.816 W 087 39.353 Camouflaged Container. About .60 loop trail. Cache is on the east of the ravine. This is a small cache named after the donator of the original cache container. Thanks. Don’t bushwhack! BYOP

During the summer, you will lose GPSr signal. After you go down the last steps and round the bend, you will be very close to the cache. Look up the hill. Please rehide well since this cache has been muggled. Park at the posted coordinates at the TVA walking trail parking lot. Don’t believe your GPS on the directions for trail entry. Enter directly across from the parking lot. You will see a paved bike trail. Take the trail down the hill into the woods to the left of the bike trail. When you get to the cache site, you will have to go approx. 10-20’ up the hill because they cut down the original hiding place. Don’t go down in the ravine. Please rehide well, or the cache will get muggled. There will be muggles about on weekends. On weekdays you’ll pretty much have the trail to yourself. This cache will take you on a beautiful wildflower hike in the Spring. You can enjoy this one any season, but late February through April are the prettiest times. Tiny white flowers bloom first. Dutchmen’s Breeches (my favorite) bloom in late February, early to late March; then, the Trillium start blooming. After that, the Mayapples, which are really Aprilapples in Alabama, bloom. Other wildflowers that bloom are Columbine, Periwinkle, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Common Fleabane, Virginia Bluebells, Maple-leaved Viburnum, Star Chickweed, Lyre-leaved Sage, Smooth Solomon’s Seal, False Solomon’s Seal, Wild Flax, Wild Blue Phlox, Greek Valerian, Spring Larkspur, Prairie Larkspur, False Rue Anemone, Indian Strawberry, White, Blue, and Yellow Violets, and many more. PLEASE do not pick the flowers! Just look and take lots of pics. Please sign the log. Close the lid tightly so water will stay out. There is no need to bushwhack anywhere. We have a good trail system here that was saved from destruction recently, so please stay on the trails. If you want to make this a loop, after you find the cache, walk ahead to the footbridge, turn left and cross it, turn left again, then walk away from the river to the steps going up the hill. You’ll come out close to the Native Garden Plant Garden. Stroll through and enjoy the work they’ve done on the flowers. Enjoy your hike! BisonGirl helped me hide this one. The cache was originally hidden by BisonWoman, but I adopted it July 2019. Thanks to BisonWoman and BisonGirl for hiding this one originally.
