The facility is located 1 1/2 kilometres west of Morden on Highway #3 and 1 Kilometre south on Colert Crescent. A vehicle pass is required to enter the park in the summer.
Cache container is a FOLDGERS plastic coffee container, painted black with a geocache label on it.
Lake Minnewasta and Colert Beach is a four-season facility that originated with the damming of the Dead Horse Creek in 1941 by the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA).
The name Minnewasta is from the Sioux meaning "good water." Colert Beach, on the northwest side of the lake, is named after Dr. W. Colert who donated the land and ensured the development of the beach area.
Morden Campground located at Lake Minnewasta is a large, modern, serviced facility which can accommodate all size units. The campground is equipped with showers, washrooms, picnic areas, fire pits and a playground.
Summer activities include swimming at Colert Beach, fishing, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and hiking.
Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing.
Night security is in place from May 15 to September 15 and Life Guards are on duty from July 1 to August 31. Concessions and water craft rental are available on the beach during summer months.
Picnicking is allowed throughout the area. Picnics tables are available in the Tyranna Park area when the area is not occupied by overflow campers. You can reserve The Lions Picnic Shelter for free for large gatherings. A barbeque is available for $10. Contact the office at 822-4991 to reserve.
