April 22, 2005 WARNING! The park system has confirmed that one coyote that was living in the southern portion of the park had rabies. Officals are working to eliminate other coyotes from that area. The section of the park where the rabid animal was killed is over a mile from this cache. However, since animals do travel, I am posting this caution. For information, I advise you call the North Chagrin Nature Center: 440-473-3370. Aditional information can be obatined from the Metroparks website.
This cache is located in the North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. Park at the Strawberry picnic area. N 41° 34.730 W 081° 25.755. You may want to waypoint this lot.
From the parking lot, look across the street toward the south east. You will see a three sided sign with a roof. Here is where you start. On one side of the sign, read about the white pine trees.

Follow the White pines trail. It is a loop. The trail markers are a white pine tree on a green background.
This will be a one mile hike. There are no major elevation changes. The trail is well marked. If you wish, a trail map is available at the Nature Center. N 41° 33.685 W 081° 26.055. You can also download a smaller version from the metroparks website.
Most of the pine trees you will see are Northern Hemlocks. They have short needles. The White Pines have long needles and you must look up to see them.
Parts one and two are micro containers. The cache is a jug about two quarts in size. All stops are near the trail. No bushwacking is necessary. Watch yourself between parts two and three, the trail runs near an edge. Please replace all caches as you found them.
The Cleveland Metroparks has granted a permit for this cache.
