Geocache Description:

The cache is in a plastic container, with a magnetic base, measuring 2" X 1.5" X 1/2". There is only room for the log book, so please bring your own pen for signing. A portion of the difficulty of the cache is dealing with the muggles during the day. The area is well lit if you'd like to cache at night.

This cache is designed to welcome you to an area that exhibits historic, patriotic, and entertainment nutritional value. The cache is located near a bank that was constructed in 1902 and is still in use today by another business. (The local owners, John and Cindy, are the friendly type and know all about the cache.) Located on the bank is the cache namesake, a time piece known as a "slave clock". The "master" for this clock was originally located inside the bank with the "slave" located outside for all the townspeople to see. In October 2005, the town put the whole thing back into working order just like it was in the early 1900s. Please take time to step around the corner to the town square and visit the town waterfall and the war memorials. On the left wall of the square are war memorials in memory of Colleton County residents who served in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. And finally, you may find it of interest that in this same place, the town has sponsored the South Carolina Heritage Cycling (bicycle) race for many years and the Great American Antique Car race in 2003. Also, parts of the movie Forest Gump were filmed in this area. And in 2002, scenes from the movie Radio with Ed Harris, Debra Winger, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. were filmed in the very spot that you are standing. The majority of the remainder of the movie was filmed in town and around our county. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your stay.
