Geocache Description:

High Rock is one of ten caches hidden for Cache Across Maryland 2005 by the Maryland Geocaching Society and won the annual award for Most Challenging CAM Hide!


I've done a lot of great caches, but one of my favorites was hidden near the parking area for this cache. So, when I was asked to hide one of the caches for the 2005 Cache Across Maryland, I thought of this now-archived cache site.

You can park at N 39°41.678 / W 077°31.407. Be sure to stop and take a long look at the area where hanglinders used to step off of the rock face until security for the nearby Camp David restricted things. I agree with the hider for the original cache: this is probably the closest we'll ever get to flying without using an airplane!

The cache itself is in a clear Rubbermaid container just off the Appalachian Trail nearby and, although the trail is somewhat rocky, no rock climbing is necessary to retreive the cache. Enjoy the hunt!
