"Choose the blue pill and wake up back in your bed and
your life goes on as before,
Choose the red pill and I show you just how deep the rabbit
hole goes."
- Morpheus
Why, oh why didn't I take the blue pill. My name is Norom,
and this is the story of my strange journey into darkness. The word had
come that the Oracle wanted to see me. I jacked into the coordinates given
to me. It was a seedy part of town. The front of the building looked
like some cheesy Chinese restaurant. I opened the door and entered.
Seated in the center of the room was a man of medium stature but muscular build,
sitting cross legged and sipping tea.
"Excuse me, I was to meet someone here....", I said,
trailing off the last part of the sentence.
"You seek the Oracle. My name is Seraf.", he
said, rising from his seat, and advancing towards me. "I can take you to
her, but first, I must apologize", he added.
"For what?", I said.
"For this", and in an instant he flew at me in a rapid
hail of fists and feet. I blocked him as best I could, absorbing kicks and
blows as he forced me into a corner of the small room. Just as I thought I
was getting the upper hand, a lightening quick kick of his foot landed squarely
in my groin. I crumpled to the ground, gasping for breath, and waiting for
the stars to clear from my eyes. "What was that for?", I said,
choking back the rage..
"The Oracle has many enemies, I had to be sure that you are
the Moron", he said.
"You could've just asked. And my name is Norom"
, I said with a certain amount of irritation in my voice.
He smiled in a rather condescending manner and said, "No,
to know someone, you must first beat them to a bloody pulp. Please, follow
me".
He withdrew a key from his pocket and opened a door on the
opposite end of the room. To my surprise, rather than entering into an
alley, or some adjacent building, as I thought it would, we came out to a small
pathway bordered on either side by a fence. It was dark, and I mean really
dark. He handed me a large Maglite and said, "Here, you'll need
this. You must follow the red pills. They are only visible at
night. I'm sorry for the precautions, but that was my
instructions".
"But will this take me to the Oracle?", I said.
But as I turned to face him, he was already retreating into a seemingly
invisible door. I sighed, turned on the light and began the trail of red
pills that stretched out before me.
This trail forms a loop hike that is marked with small
reflectors. There are two caches on the route, the other two in the park
have a certain amount of poison oak and are best done during the day. Wear
sturdy shoes, carry a big flashlight, and watch your step. There is a
small stamp in the cache. Please leave it in the cache. It is not a
trade item.
