After chasing down several caches, my daughter and I decided to try our hand at hiding one.
This cache is located near the Public Access to the St. Joe river just east of St. Joe, IN. Well, actually it's still in St. Joe as far as the post office is concerned. Several years ago there was an old iron bridge where the public access is now located (it would've made a nice addition to Lord Padishar's Bridges of Dekalb County series). When it became unsafe they tore it down and built a nice wide concrete bridge just to the east, then re-routed the road to cross the river at that point. It's kind of relaxing to stand there and watch the river casually flow by below. Watch the little buggy critters that like to crawl on the concrete though, if you decide to site-see while you're there. They tend to show up all over your jacket if you lean on the concrete.
Oh..and traffic is not heavy, but it's semi-constant partially due to the nearby plant. Your usual diligence should keep the cache from being discovered.
Cache is not extremely hard to find. You can watch the trains go by if you want, but don't worry...the cache is more than a safe distance from the tracks. It is a plastic tube big enough for a logbook and several small trade items. I started it off with a mini-superball, flashlight-keyring and a traveler tag.
Be sure to press both ends on snug and leave it just like you found it so it stays hidden.
