Geocache Description:

Hannahatchee Creek rises near Richland and flows westerly to enter the Chattahoochee River near Omaha. The name is derived from the Muskogean word ACHINA (cedar) and HACHI (creek). Near this creek was the original settlement of Hannahatchee, which is sometimes called Antioch, and is now the community of Louavale, GA. (source: www.kenkrakow.com/gpn/h.pdf)

If you yearn to go truly off the beaten path in middle Georgia, then this cache series is for you. This 5,600 acre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is open to the public and includes opportunities for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and wildlife viewing. The great thing about this rugged and beautiful area is that not a great number of people really know about it. It is vast, secluded, and you can't help but feel like you're a million miles away when you're there. It’s an outdoorsman’s dream come true.

You will be traveling on CR (County Road) 46, which is the kind of true, back-home dirt road that you hear about in country songs. It is a good 8 1/2 miles to get to the WMA on this road. After a heavy rain, the road can become muddy in places, so while it is possible to make it to these caches with a regular car (as I did when placing them), you may feel more confident on the road if you take a truck or jeep, particularly after a rain. Be sure and wear long pants if you’re going after cache #2.

Cache is a regular ammo box.
