Art of Tacoma: Clearing the Way Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Noltex: Unfortunately, with the renovation of this park there no longer is a satisfactory location for the cache. I'm hoping in the not to distant future to place a new cache not too far away.

Geocache Description:

A cache series highlighting the public art of Tacoma.

This is another of the many pieces of public art that were placed in 1984 to celebrate the City of Tacoma's centennial. This sculpture by well known artist Larry Anderson honors the rugged loggers who cleared the land for the city and provided lumber, one of the city's main exports for many years. The views from Fireman's Park where the cache is located encompass all the way from Mt. Rainier to Commencement Bay.

Since there was no way to hide even the smallest cache on the statue, it was placed fairly close by, about 25 feet away. There is no need to dig through flower beds or pull up sprinklers. Some will find the cache immediately, others will take a bit longer. Either way, there are plenty of places to sit quietly and sign the log undisturbed as you enjoy this beautiful downtown park. Bring your own pen, this one's pretty small.
