Ølsted Bakker


Bakkerne
Ved Ølsted Bakker i den sydøstlige udkant af Ølsted by findes Rakenhøj som er en gravhøj. Tærrenet er stærkt kuperet, og bevokset med løv- og nåletræer. Det højeste sted i denne del af bakkerne er 38 meter, hvorfra der er en flot udsigt mod øst. For foden af bakkerne ligger der også en lille sø, som man passerer hvis man går ad stisystemet, der forbinder Ølsted med landevejen mod Frederikssund.

Sankt Hans i bakkerne
Hvert år fejres Sankt Hans med bål i bakkerne, og båltalen holdes gerne af prominente personer. Eksempelvis har Anker Jørgensen således lagt vejen forbi Ølsted, for at tale til de fremmødte. På trods af, at vejret som oftest ikke er det bedste, er festen i bakkerne derfor altid et tilløbsstykke. Denne, og mange andre begivenheder, kan man følge med i på byens hjemmeside.

Adgang og parkering
Adgang til bakkerne sker nemmest via stisystemet, nær Hovedgaden. Der kan parkeres overfor Rakenhøj ca her N 55° 55.165 E 012° 04.355, hvor stien begynder for enden.

The hills
Ølsted bakker (hills) are located in the south-eastern outskirts of the city. The terrain is hilly, and covered by both hardwood and coniferous trees. The highest point in this part of the hills are 38 meters, from wich there is a nice view towards east. At the base of the hills you will find a small lake, if you walk along the path connection Ølsted with the primary road to Frederikssund.

Midsummer Day in the hills
Every year, Midsummer Day is celebrated in Ølsted bakker in a traditional, danish manner. There is a speech by a prominent person, and usually a lot of people participates in this event. More information about Ølsted kan be found at the city homepage, although in danish.

Parking and driving directions
Access to the hills are easily obtained through the paths, starting near Hovedgaden. You can park opposite Rakenhøj here N 55° 55.165 E 012° 04.355, which continues into the path.
