It is very unusual for the Highway Department to leave a grave on the right-of-way. But this one is here. The story from the locals is that he was a railroad worker. He died in 1882, which jives with the railroad completion in 1882.
On his stone it says "Gone but not Forgotten" . I guess that is true now.
