Geocache Description:

This cache is on the coastal path at Orlock Point. The coordinates given are for a suitable parking spot on the Bangor to Donaghadee road, about half a mile from the cache. From the car park you can follow the coast round, pick up the cache and, if the fancy takes you, continue on to come up past the coastguard station to rejoin the main road. A good footpath takes you back to the car park. The coastal path can be muddy. Not buggy friendly. Looking out to sea you will have a good view of the Copeland Islands.

And it is to the largest of the islands that you should pay attention. Use your binoculars to spot me standing at the highest point, signalling the coordinates of the cache to you. To save my poor arms I will only be sending the .ddd parts of the coordinates (deg min.ddd). The degrees and minutes are the same as the car park. And you don’t really need me to tell you which are northings and which are westings.

If you are unfortunate enough to come when visibility is poor or when I am off on a tea break, you should be able to get the same information from the animation on this page.

When I placed this cache my GPS recorded an altitude of 19ft below sea level. I hope my horizontal readings are more accurate. The cache is a small tab-lock box wrapped in a black cover sheet. As it is very close to the path it needs to be well concealed when you replace it.
