Geocache Description:

Mardley Heath Nature Reserve, level ground to the cache, but if you go off the footpaths you can go over hilly ground (the old gravel workings) now covered in Birch trees.

Mardley Heath was once open land covered in grass and heather with scrub and woods.
Commoners had rights to graze sheep and cattle.
At the turn of the last century gravel was extracted from a large part of the heath.
Since the end of quarrying in 1966 natural regeneration of Birch and Oak has covered a large area of the heath.
There is a car park area at N 51'50.999 W 000'11.321 there is a picnic area close by.
Dogs are allowed if under control

The cache is an old ammo box painted red on one side plus the lid to help you see it.
