LINCOLN HIGHWAY Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

The Lincoln Highay originated in the East in the early 1900's. In July 1919 the Transcontinental Motor Train (Army) left Washington DC, in September 1919 the convoy passed here on this exact road! Saying, "it was the best road they been on." Read "American Road" by Pete Davies. This section, going up the hill would become Highway-40.

You are going to do some math to find the finish;
At the above LON/LAT you'll find a marker, to get the FINAL Latitude coordinates you need to find what year this place was built by John Green... then ADD "110" to that number to complete 37 4X.XXXN

Across the Street at 37 42.069N x 121 56.295W you'll find another marker, to get the FINAL Longatude coordinates you must find the year it was saved... then ADD "4660" to that number to complete 121 5X.XXXW NOTE: There was a mistake in a number, this has since been corrected. Sorry folks!

This road was/is the Lincoln Highway before the freeway was built. Even the Gaurdrail is from that era.
