Geocache Description:

A scenic moorland cache with fine views over the Aire Valley.

Situated on a hillside high above Silsden, West Yorkshire, the Doubler Stones are part of a rocky outcrop formed of hard gritstone and pillars of softer sandstone. The large curiously-shaped rocks have several clearly visible cup and basin markings and can be approached from several public rights of way or the open access area of Ilkley Moor.

Depending on the direction of approach, the terrain will be open rough moorland, fields, tracks or road so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. The cache is a regular sized clear plastic box containing the log book and a selection of goodies which, at the time of placing, were:

musical bottle opener
glitter pencils
pen keyring
playing cards
sewing kit
viking figure
red nose day badge
erasers
CITO tub
a wooden bug
Y2K travel bug

Be aware that there may be sheep and lambs in the vicinity of the cache so please keep dogs under tight control to avoid any distress to the animals. GPS accuracy at the time of placing the cache was excellent so no hint has been provided, however I will give help if necessary to anyone logging a DNF.

Please bring a pen to sign the log book and replace the cache carefully for the next finder, thanks.

We hope you enjoy it.
