Geocache Description:

Located in the Delta National Forest. The cache is off of Forest Road 706. The road can be accessed via State Highway 14 from the north and State Highway 16 from the south. Please pick up a day use permit when you enter the forest.

Enjoy a pleasant hike in along the McCann Bayou Trail to the northeast corner of the largest part of the Bayou. The road is in excellent condition and will take you through a well drained part of the Forest. You can remain on the trail almost all the way to the cache.

The cache is a .50 caliber ammo can. There is roughly a 0.45 mile hike to the cache from the parking lot. Be sure to bring plenty of deet based insect repellent. Be on the lookout for poison ivy, snakes, alligators, and black bears.
