INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #150
”HIDDEN SERENITY?"

Welcome to Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Wayne Township, Kosciusko County. This county was named after a Patriot furiner who fought with George Washington in the Revolution, and the county seat is named after the Capital of his country.

This is a gigantic cemetery with thousands and thousands of burials and many secrets. As you drive thru the main gate, if you continue straight on you will come to the round Central Park, with a Flag and Plaque dedicated to Veterans, with many veterans' graves surrounding it. (N41° 14.763 and W85° 50.43) Adjacent to it is another circle (Section 13) containing the government tombstones of about forty five Civil War veterans.

As you drive the meandring narrow curbed lanes in this massive burial ground, let your GPS receiver take you to the coordinates listed at the top of the page. You will find an secret place that contains the bones of many ancient Indiana Pioneers. From the straight close together rows, you will soon see that it is obvious this was a very old small graveyard that was moved from somewhere else to this spot. The markers are mostly from the 1840's to 1860's. Who these folks were or where they are from I have no idea--maybe you can get a clue by reading some of the old stones...There is a lone Civil War Veteran across the lane guarding this spot forever...

No Dogs are allowed here, so keep 'em locked up in your vee-hickel, and don't get locked in, 'cause they padlock the gates at night and camping is not allowed...
