Geocache Description:

The H+H company, founded back in 1909, bought Ølsted sand-lime brick factory in 1919. The first experiments with air filled concrete took place in 1937. The production of aircrete elements continued until 2002 in Ølsted. After that, the whole plant was demounted and sold.

The gravel pit
The gravel pit south of Ølsted belonged to the factory. It is no longer in use, and today it is mainly a recreative area. The top of the gravel pit is 47 meters high. From here, you can enjoy the view of Roskilde Fjord and Arresø.

Parking and driving directions
Access to the gravel pit are easily obtained through the paths, starting near Hovedgaden. You can park opposite Rakenhøj here N 55° 55.165 E 012° 04.355, which continues into the path.
