Geocache Description:

The town of Moreton-in-Marsh is a lovely small Cotswold town which can become busy in the tourist season. This is an easy offset cache, taking you first to a board in the centre of the town and then a short walk to a park with a children’s playground. Suitable for everyone, including canine cachers.

Moreton-in-Marsh is a typical Cotswold town, very attractive, busy and potentially packed in the tourist season. There is free parking throughout the town. If you have a choice then park centrally – you will probably pass the first waypoint whilst looking for somewhere to park, but don’t stop here!

Moreton-in-Marsh is in the middle of lovely coutryside. The town itself is a busy market town and you can read more about it on the town website here. The "Marsh" in the name of the town oddly enough comes from "march" meaning boundary because this was where four counties met. The worst you're going to find on this trip is a little mud!

The wide main street is typical of many Cotswold towns. Points of interest include the 16th Century Curfew Tower, where the bell rung out the curfew until as recently as 1860, the splendid Redesdale Market Hall built in the 18th-century and the Redesdale Arms, also situated in High Street, which is an attractive 17th-century building. There are a wide selection of gift and other shops. There was a big wartime airfield here (now a fire brigade training station) and as a consequence a Wellington Museum dedicated to aircraft on the outskirts of the town, heading west.

Your first objective is a list of Tolls for market day, located in the centre of the town at the above coordinates. When you find this list headed “Undermentioned Tolls” then find the numbers A, B, C and D as follows:
• “Nothing to stand within “AB” feet of the brick pavement”
• The charge for a Cart is “C”d
• The charge for a Handcart is “D”d

You can now find the physical cache which is located at: N51°59.5B (D-A)', W01°42.DA(C+A)'

When on the final approach to the cache, please ensure that you are not observed removing it since children play around the area.
