The EEEE fish camp (OR 4Es..or For Ease) stood on this spot for many years but has fallen to the river restoration plan.
On the banks of the old river run stood the 4Es fish camp. Run by the Detwyler family (at least in my lifetime) it was one of the few businesses between Basinger and Desoto City. There were trailer spots and docking available and it was quite a hot spot for many years. Right up the road was the "Liar's Den" (also long gone) where you could have a sit-down drink and maybe get in a fight. In the 90s the land was taken over by the government for the river marsh and everyone left. As you walk to the cache site, signs of civilization will be all around in the form of flowering plants gone back to the wild. There is a boat ramp on the old river but is restricted to non-motorized craft only.
