Geocache Description:

Another roadside park and historical site along the Great River Road, this portion on Rt 164 south of Oquawka, Il.

The park features a covered bridge which was orginally built in 1866 to span Henderson Creek, and carried traffic until 1934. In July of 1982 flood waters washed the bridge from it's abutments and floated it downstream. A campaign was launched to rebuild the bridge and in 1984 the bridge was rebuilt at the orginal site but raised 3 1/2 feet. Take time to read the information about the Great River Road and this bridge, there are not to many of these covered bridges in Illinois. The cache is a medium size container and is full of neat stuff for everyone. Please replace as found and that container is secure.
