I use to ride my bicycle through this area on occassion and always looked for the landmark at this spot, because this is where we would turn and head up the hill to cross 580 at Altamont Pass, elevation 1009ft.
The cache location has a unique view of the underside of 580 and you can see the Union Pacific railroad tracks that the ACE Train uses to bring commuters from the Tracy area to Santa Clara. When I was checking out the area, a frieght train was rumbling down the tracks. During commute hours, the area is heavily traveled by commuters trying to escape the gridlock on the freeway above.
Cache is a 4" round plastic container. Also, for benchmark hunters, there is one within about 30ft that I noticed.
