At Watmough Beach on the southeast coast of Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands
On the southeast coastline of Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands is the quiet and secluded Watmough Bay nestled below the cliffs of Chadwick Hill and looking east across Rosario Strait to Fidalgo Island, Mount Baker and the North Cascades. The Watmough Bay Preserve includes protected wetlands and a gravel beach used by the Lummi Indians for hundreds of years. A loop trail circles the wetlands. Parking is at 48 25.730 x 122 49.062 There can be a lot of people (usually locals) at the beach, or you may have it to yourself.
The Cache is a Rubbermaid 4L container. The cache is inland from the beach on the northern half of the loop trail. The trail towards the beach easy to see; the return part of the loop trail is near the northern end of the beach and ends about 75 feet up the road from the parking lot. The cache is about 12 feet off the trail. It is not necessary to climb any rocks, and it is not hidden in any rocky crevice. No Bushwacking is required.
