Geocache Description:

Nice walk most any time.

A shrub that begins blooming in March or April.

BOTANY 099 SERIES

These caches will take you to the places where specific trees, shrubs, vines or plants can be seen.

The given coordinates take you to an attractive flowering bush called Golden Currant, Ribes aureum There are actually three different bushes that grow in the clump of bushes at these coordinates. The first to bloom in the Spring is the Golden Currant, later (in April) a small Chokecherry bush, Prunus Virginiana, blooms (a white raceme - a round columnar mass), then in June the largest of the three bushes, Blue Elderberry, Sambucus glauca , blooms and then later one sees its berries. Please note the pictures of all three bushes that are attached.

This "ribes" bush was at one time a bush that the U.S. Government with CC Camps workers tried to completely eradicate in the Northwest because the Ribes bush was the intermediate host for an organism which caused “blister rust”, a serious threat to one particular agricultural/forest crop.

The cache container is no longer a micro, but is now a small camouflaged box about 1x3x4 inches. There is now room for some small items. It is no longer in sight. Please return the cache to exact place you found it. Thanks!.
