I received the ammo can used in this cache for Christmas from my
brother. He is coming into town to visit, so I wanted to get this
ammo can out there.
At the given coordinates, you will find a headstone. The
headstone is marked "Brother". You need to determine from the
markings on the headstone the correct projection to stage 2. Take
the birth year, YYYY, and remove the two middle numbers and put a
decimal point in front. Example 2005 is now .25. Now subtract the
death year from 4851 and put a decimal between the 2nd and 3rd
digit to get your bearing. Example 4851-2005=28.46. This is your
projection. If 2005 were birth and death year, the projection would
be a distance of .25 mile at 28.46° bearing.
At stage 2, you will find a camo'd pill container containing the
projection to the final ammo can.
The southern most gate of the cemetary is usually open. There is
a chain on it, but it is not locked. Lift it over the pole to open
and get entrance to the cemetary. There is a gap in the fence at
the rear of the cemetary which will take you to stage 2 and 3,
neither of which are on the cemetary grounds. There really is no
way to drive closer to either of these stages. The cemetary closes
at sundown, so please do not attempt this as a night cache.
When I placed this cache, there was a man walking through the
cemetary playing bag pipes. It was really cool to listen to. When
placing the final, I noticed a secluded pond with a bunch of geese.
Another great location for a cache. Be careful near the creek since
there are some really steep inclines, an even some cliffs, but some
great scenery. I would not recommend this for young children.
3/26/2005 - Verified coords to stage 1 were correct. In wet
weather conditions, the grave stone is hard to read, but it is
there. Also, the projections were done using True North.
3/29/2005 - The land following Rowlett Creek is undeveloped park
land soon to be used for the 5 city hike/bike trails. If
