The "Severn Ham" at Tewkesbury is "one of the last remaining
traditionally managed ham meadows overlying the alluvium of the
Severn Vale". It has a great richness of grass species, every year
the hay is cut and sold at public auction (2005 was a bad year -
only one bidder turned up so they got the hay for a snip). For
geotwitchers Lapwing, Redshank and Curlew have been known to nest
here and many songbirds visit.
The Ham is crossed by a number of footpaths although in practice
you are free to wander wherever you like.
The cache is a regular 1.6l Lock-n-Lock sandwich box in a camo
stuff-sac and contains the usual cache goodies in addition to the
logbook.
Be careful when retrieving, there are some nettles about. Be
discreete, this is a popular place, particularly at weekends.
