You can park on the road close to the above co-ords. As you face
the telephone box, glance to your right and you’ll see the
start of the footpath. If the footpath is closed, please refer to
additional waypoint which give alternative co-ords where the
pipeline details can also be found.
Walk along the footpath (known as Monks Path) and on your right,
you will see Farnborough Hill. This is the highest hill in
Farnborough at 100m above sea level! On the top of the hill stands
a mid Victorian, gothic inspired creation which was commissioned by
the publisher Thomas Longman and was completed in 1863. However,
the house is more well known as being the home of the French
Empress Eugenie, who lived there for nearly forty years. After her
death in 1920, the property passed to Prince Victor Napoleon and
after his death in 1926, Farnborough Hill was sold in order to meet
death duties. It was bought by the Sisters of Christian Education
to be used as a convent school which has continued to this day.
Head towards N 51 18.090 W 0 44.751, here you should see
four pipeline notices - look at the one with L- 10" on it, the last
three digits are AB.C
At the end of the footpath, turn right towards the post box.
Monks Path continues to the left of the post box, with a footbridge
across the Southampton-Waterloo railway.

On your right, you see St Michael's Abbey which dominates
the Farnborough skyline. It was built at the request of the Empress
Eugenie of France as a memorial to house the remains of the
Imperial Family in exile. It was designed by the French architect
Gabriel Destailleur and built between 1883 and 1888 in late French
Gothic style. Beneath the Abbey is situated the Imperial Crypt
which contains the tombs of Emperor Napoleon III, the Prince
Imperial and of course Empress Eugenie.
The cache location gives a lovely view of the Abbey. You are
looking for a small plastic container containing a log book and a
couple of pencils.
