A Decon
container near a great photo taking
opportunity.
This cache is
a bit off of Oak Creek. I have put the cache in an area that will
not be affected by heavy creek flow and will not be washed away.
The cache is on the creek side of the fence. If you find yourself
with a fence between you and the creek you have gone the wrong way.
No fence crossing required.
This is a
great place for the family to play and it is very near one of the
best places to take pictures of some great red rocks. You can find
out more information about the park at
Crescent Moon Picnic Area. The area is open
All year, hours: 8
a.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day; off-season, 8 a.m.
to dusk. The price of admission is $8.00 per carload (up to 5
people). If you park as close as possible in the park it is
approximately 0.30 miles to the cache, as the crow
flies.
If you have a
RedRock pass already like we do, you can park across the creek
pretty close to the end of Verde Valley School Road. There is now a
parking waypoint and a Oak Creek crossing waypoint as well to make
it easier. You can walk across the creek at the creek crossing
waypoint below and then pay the park rangers $1.00 per person
instead of $8.00 per carload. If you decide to walk across the
creek it is about a 2 mile round trip. The sound of the creek is
magical and we always go this way now. It makes for a more
enjoyable adventure. The Littlest_Hkr loves crossing the creek on
the stones provided.
The cache area
is always very muggle heavy. One must be stealthy after fall until
spring comes again as there is no tree cover during those times of
the year. You can be easily seen looking for the cache during these
times. You must sneak to the location while everyone is taking
pictures of the beautiful area. Please make sure you close the
container correctly (with a snap) and also make sure that the
Ziploc baggy is sealed properly. This will assure a pleasant
caching experience for those that follow.
Please practice
leave no trace guidelines while searching for this cache. They are
listed below.
Leave
No Trace Techniques for
Geocaching
The essentials of responsible
geocaching:
-
Never bury caches.
-
Never leave food items in a cache.
-
Replace rocks & other natural objects lifted during a
search.
-
Find routes that minimize impact.
-
Leave places looking as if the seekers had never been
there.
Enjoy the cache and have fun. Please replace it
exactly as you found it so that others following you can find it
exactly as intended.
Take plenty of photos as well so you can post them
here for others to see the beauty of Arizona.
