Geocache Description:

Where's Tripper? (3)

Posted coordinates above are for Little Lake in Peterborough and are NOT THE LOCATION of the actual geocache.

This is a multi-waypoint mystery cache. I have provided you with one photo. This 'Mystery Photo' contains clues to finding my exact location. (click on photo to enlarge)

Step 1: Find Tripper. Once my exact location is determined you will need to visit the spot in order to obtain my coordinates (again use the photo to help you position yourself).
The following 'adjustment' should help get you on the exact spot: N44 xx.x79 W78 xx.x69

Mystery Photo

Step 2: Project yourself from the Mystery Photo as follows:

4970 metres at a bearing of 2235 mils (True North)
(yes, you will likely have to change your GPSr's setting from "degrees" to "mils" before you do the projection) When you reach this point you will find a hydro pole. On the hydro pole you'll find a number in the format:
J XXXYYYY .

Step 3: Using this number (J XXXYYYY) from the pole, calculate the final cache coordinates as follows:

To calculate the minute portion of the cache coordinates for the North coordinate, (XXX + 212).
To calculate the minute portion of the cache coordinates for the West coordinate, (YYYY - 791).

Note that the N44 xx and W078 xx portion of the final coordinates are the same as for this hydro pole. If you keep your eyes open you'll find a trail that leads from this pole to the cache and back in a loop (well, more like a lollypop shape).

The mystery waypoint should be easy to find -- especially by residents of the Peterborough area. If you're not familiar with the area feel free to ask one of the locals, they're really friendly folk.

Please be VERY careful to leave the cache exactly as you found it AND feel free to add additional cover if necessary. It's well hidden as the site area tends to get its share of local traffic - day and night. Please re-hide the cache carefully, we wouldn't want the cache to go missing in action. Thank you.

Finally, please do not include any spoilers in your logs. Unfortunately, logs with spoilers (such as a picture or description that provides extra clues) will have to be deleted immediately.

Ciao,

TRIPPER & fam.

NOTES:

  1. Family friendly.
  2. Winter and night raid friendly.
  3. Geocache is in a large mixed nut container. Camouflaged of course.
Boooo!! Thank you Binthair for the concept. This one isn't nearly as evil as 'Where am I?' but stay tuned....
