Geocache Description:

Watch Humpback whales drift by or simply check out the spectacular views.

A short stroll to this idealic location overlooking the Cumberland Islands to the North down to Hay Point Coal terminal to the South. A short stop to count the number of Coal ships anchored off the Coast is mandatory. The record is 45!

Time your search right and you may even watch the Humpback whales cruise on by on their way to the Whitsunday Islands during the Winter months (July/August). The cache location provides a less crowded yet equally spectacular view of the whales. Parking is also much easier than the often crowded Lamberts Lookout to the South.

The land surrounding the cache is public land with a grassy vehicle trail between the houses and the coast. However, please respect all landowners in this area and refrain from driving the final 100-150m to this cache. This cache is generally not suitable for unsupervised children and infants due the nearby cliff structures however they be able to get within 10m of the final cache location quite safely. In any respect, please monitor all children in this area due to slippery cliff edges nearby. I frequently take my 14MO son to this location whilst holding him with no concerns.

The Cache consists of a small plastic container, well hidden in the rocky surrounds. Please return the container to exactly the same location as these rocks are used by myself and fellow collegues for anchoring Rescue ropes during High Angle training. The cache is placed out of the normal training area however it is much easier for me not to explain suspicious boxes and their contents :-)

Attached inside this Cache is a set of (non-waterproof)binoculars for spotting whales or checking out the islands or even distinguishing the different ships anchored out to sea. Please do not remove them from this location, or swap them for another item! The binoculars can be removed for the temporary use, however they are to be returned to the container with the same arrangement as you have found them. They have been provided for your enjoyment, please don't abuse this privelage. If they are missing or damaged, a short note on the website would be appreciated. BTW they are 10x25 binoculars, so don't expect the world out of them :-)

Welcome to the Slade Point Lamberts Area Training Wall Cache......
