This cache is part of the wonderful things to see in NB. This one is the oldest tree in the Maritimes. It dates back some 300 years, around 1650, when our forfathers were sailing the St Laurence River to establish Quebec, Montreal and Halifax.
This tree is about 150 feet high. It takes 10 people with stretched arms together to embrace it circumference. It is big. It is near Aroostook, near the trans Canada Highway, accross from the Aroostook blue water tank near Four Falls.
Take along a camera. This is a must-see cache.
Take exit into Perth-Andover ... steer right and take a gravel service road on the up-side of the TCH ... and follow towards north to the tree site ... park and walk to the cache ... Hope you like this scenic adventure :-)
About 5 years ago, the highway planners wanted to remove it to build the new highway. A local farmer nearby, Mr J.E. Wright published a photo and invited people to help him save this historical tree. So far, all the wood has been cut around, but this tree still stands. There is a smaller pine tree about 100 yards away, but it is not half of the magnitude of this tree.
This cache contains: log book, pencil, sharpener
Two birds, Orange screwdriver set, small picture frame, 2 batteries, 1 meter measuring tape, key chain
