tiddalik: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A tour of the island!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO LEAVE THE MARKED WALKWAYS.

Firstly a few warnings. This tour takes place mainly on gravel roads, they are in good condition, but care needs to be exercised. NOTE that the final ferry for the night is usually 7PM, if you miss it, we are not paying for your accommodation!! The site mentioned at the end has a close time of 4:30pm
The ferry timetable can be found here: (visit link)

We suggest that if you plan to do this and the other cache on the same day, catch an early ferry!!

Head for WP1, and when there take note of the maximum speed in the carpark (in knots!) Remember this number as A.
Then head for WP2 which is at 43 21.993 147 13.979.
Using the last digit of the phonenumber for the public telephone (the digit after the X) store this as B. On the pole to the right of the phone box we want to use the Aurora Pole number, the 6 digit one. The first digit we will use as C. The fifth digit we will callD, subtract the fourth from the fifth to give us E. The sixth digit we can call F. The second digit minus the first gives G. Using A from before (we did write it down, didn't we?) subtract 5 from it to give H.
We can use substitution to find WP3, 43 BG.CCC 147 CH.DEF.
Once here we take a history lesson. It is fascinating to read the whole lot. The reason we stop here is that this is the enrty to the national park, an additional cost. We did not feel that it was right to impose on you a further cost after the ferry trip. HoWEVER if you wish to continue on, please do, it is well worth the drive.
The details we want from this point is the year that Bruni D'Entrecasteaux anchored in the bay. It would have been in 17I2.
We now have enough to work out GZ, 43 CE.CED 147 BH.IBI
We hope you enjoyed the tour of the island, and don't forget the ferry!!!
