Historic Como Park #3:

Hamm Memorial Waterfalls

Pic from CPcab

Another Cache is near another one of Como Parks' Historic Landmarks - Hamm Memorial Waterfalls.  The waterfalls were built after receiving a $43,000 gift from William Hamm Sr. on June 30th, 1967.  The falls are normally working during most of the summer, creating a soothing "gurgle gurgle" sound.  The nearby picnic area is one of the highest points in the park, and used to provide a perfect overlook of the Lake, which used to occupy the land to the West, now known as the Como Golf Course. (Originally constructed in 1929)   Looking west, within the golf course grounds, you can see a historic stone bridge, which used to carry streetcar traffic into the area.

If you are coming over the pedestrian bridge from one of my other recent hides, you can use the same blacktop pathway to get to this area. The pathway will take you past other historical features such as the Schiffman Fountain and the Gates Ajar. The path is used quite heavily during all times of day, so please use stealth to avoid detection.!

If you are interested in more history of Como Park, please use a good search engine, and look into it- its Well Worth the effort!!
