Little Hellfire Bay is situated in the Cape Le Grand National Park, where some of the most beautiful beaches in the
WORLD can be found.
The bay is only accessible via a walking trail that forms part of the Coastal Walk through the park. The easiest way in is on the Hellfire Bay to Thistle Cove section of the walk, but if you are keen there is about 15km of the coastal walk in total covering all sorts of terrain.
The section of the walk from Hellfire bay to Little Hellfire should take you approximately 15-20 mins each way. Allow for this, make sure you are wearing decent shoes, look out for snakes in summer, take water and all the normal precautions. The beach is lovely and secluded, and almost always sheltered from those famous Esperance winds, so if the weather is nice, pack your bathers for the walk! There should be no reason at any stage to venture off the walk trail – the cache itself is located in a rocky section of the walk – but please do be careful not to disturb any of the vegetation in the area.
Parking, Toilet and BBQ facilities are available at Hellfire bay – and at numerous other spots around the park – it is well worth taking the time to have a look around Cape Le Grand.
Because it is a national park you will either need a national parks pass (either a local pass or All parks pass) or you can purchase a day pass at the entrance to the park for $9/vehicle (price in March 05). More information about National Parks Passes in WA can be found at http://www.calm.wa.gov.au/national_parks/index.html.
