Geocache Description:

Parrett Cycleway, Langport, Somerset

For my first cache i have chosen an area i know very well, having lived close by for most of my life, the Somerset Levels around the village of Langport. The Parrett Cycleway forms part of the National Cycle Network, and is in close proximity to the River Parrett Trail, which can be accessed from the cycleway. Further information on the routes can be found at www.sustrans.org.uk.Route 33 (which the cycleway is located on) starts at Pill near Bristol, and runs to Seaton in Devon. Although a cycleway, do not be fooled, walkers and cyclists use the route with equal volume.
The River Parrett Trail itself runs from the river's source, at Combwich on the North Somerset Coast, to Chesington, near Crewkerne. A total length of around 50 miles. Those wishing to find out more about the trail may want to visit www.riverparrett-trail.org.uk/ to find out more.

The cache itself is located very close to the path and is, a popular footpath with locals and dogwalkers so this should be bore in mind when seeking the cache.
Plenty of parking can be found at the River Parrett Visitor Centre at Westover in Langport (N51 02.148 W002 50.121).
The cache is about 3/4 mile from the car park, but the walk/ride is completely level, and will give good views of the moors of Somerset.

Those of you with the energy may wish to hire bicycles from the centre explore the area past the cache site, including the historic Muchelney Abbey, parts of which dating back to the 7th century(N51 01.206 W002 48.853). Further information on the abbey can be found at www.english-heritage.org.uk.

As mentioned above ,the cycleway is popular with walkers/cyclists, and being almost straight, cunning is called for in seeking/replacing the cache!

Although marked as a small cache, the box is actually medium sized, and will be able to cope with travel bugs without a problem.
For the first finder i have included a £1 coin which could be used for refreshment at the visitor centre!
